Barbeque Nation

A few days back, we had lunch at BARBEQUE NATION. And let me tell you. That is what I call Fine dining! Exquisite food, very calming ambiance, excellent service, very pleasing and an instant rejuvenation for any kind of mood! In short, it was a gastronomical delight!

As http://www.barbeque-nation.com/ informs us, this caters to both vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. The menu is drawn from the most exquisite cuisines of the world – Mediterranean, Oriental, Asian and American. I think this is the first of its kind in India where the customer gets to make their food on their personal grills which are embedded in their table. One can also bast the food with his/her favourite marinade so as to produce that particular touch that only personal cooking can bring.

The variety in the starters and the main course buffet are rotated on a daily basis.

The interior is designed with woodwork and exposed brick walls which gives you the feel of having stepped into an English countryside inn. It is a very good place for a family gathering or a get together too.

As we entered there were 2 female and 1 male restaurant receptionists who gave us a warm welcome and inquired about our food preference. The first menu was a combo of 3 vegetarian starters and 2 non-veg starters which would be provided in unlimited helpings. Yes! You heard it right. UNLIMITED!!! πŸ™‚ With this, you also get beer/soft drinks. The second combo was a Rs. 475 + tax per head starter + buffet lunch which had 5 veg starters and 5 non-veg starters again, unlimited, along with which you get cocktails/mocktails and other liquor drinks too. Also, bottled mineral water was provided by them itself free of extra charges. (Believe me, I have been at restaurants where a bottle of mineral water itself costs 50 Rs. minimum!!!)

As my husband is allergic to prawns, we went for the former starter+buffet lunch which cost Rs. 275 + tax per head. After ascertaining our preference, we were led to our seats where we were immediately served with fresh water and a waiter came on to enquire whether either of us were pure vegetarians to which obviously our answer was ‘NO’, because we are both the ultimate foodies and LOVE non-veg food! πŸ˜‰ Taking orders for drinks, there was a choice between Sprite, Coke and Fanta to which I naturally chose Fanta. I hate black-colored drinks. My husband got his bottle of beer which they presented the way you would a wine bottle! Then he explained to us (as it was the first time we were there) the procedure of how we had food there.

There were 3 small bowls on either side of the table filled with different marinades/ sauces/ chutneys. There were 3 dust-brushes and 3 spoons to use these with accordingly. Then they explained to us that when we had enough of the starters, we could bend down the “flag” on our table and proceed to our buffet lunch which included soups, main course and salads. The day we went to Barbeque Nation, they had Tai pei potato, Mutton sheek kabab, Sweet and spicy chicken (this was my favorite!), Spicy vegtables and a kind of paneer. They were awesome! After being REALLY full with starters, we bent the flag and proceeded to our lunch.. The spread was so delicious! It was very hard to leave out tasting anything. So we tasted a little of everything!!! πŸ˜€ Oh yes! We did! πŸ™‚

Soups ..well, I didnt try them as I’m not a big fan of soups and secondly, I had to leave space for the most looked-forward-to desserts, right!!!! However, Vin was really ‘enlivened’ with the soup.

I could not possibly elaborate into what was there for the buffet lunch coz’ there were so many dishes and its been a few days since we went there. Hence, I’m not able to recall all the names at the moment. But, almost every possible thing was there! (I remember telling my husband this too! ;-))

Now, it was time for desserts! There were fresh fruits, phirni, vanilla ice-cream with a variety of toppings Β (cherry sauce, chocolate sauce, butterscotch crunchies and nuts), gulab jamun, chocolate mousse, cake with jam..It was a wonderful assortment of sweets!!! By the time we were done with that too, man! we were upto the bursting point!

There was in fact, no need for dinner that day! We also realized that choosing the 10 starter course is an ultimate waste because the meals and desserts remain the same and it is the starters that are unlimited. So, putting two together, a 5 starter unlimited is much more satisfying than a 10 starter unlimited.

In a nutshell, this is a place I would highly recommend to people who appreciate good food and love to eat! A great experience in itself!! πŸ™‚ But, as an afterthought, it would be better if one goes there for lunch as during dinner, it would be impossible to eat so much even if you take your own sweet time about it.

  • One of my favorite things to cook when i bbq is pork-n-beans with ground meat. You have to season and brown your goundmeat then add it to your prok-n-beans season to taste.
